Launched in June 2016 and closed in 2020, the Devonshire Club is located in Devonshire Square, right in the city’s epicenter. Previously a Regency-era warehouse for spices, silks, and ostrich feathers, it now houses a 68-room club and hotel, owned by the Mantis group and managed by the amiable General Manager, Steven Cowie. As part of the Mantis Collection, the Club joins an assortment of boutique hotels, game reserves, eco lodges, chalets, and yachts.

The Devonshire Club offers a unique atmosphere, attracting a diverse crowd of City professionals and creative visitors from nearby attractions like Brick Lane and Spitalfields Market. Housed in two Grade II-listed structures—an 18th-century East India Company warehouse and an adjacent Georgian townhouse—the Club artfully blends old and new. The vibrant interiors feature a mix of heritage design, midcentury-style wingback armchairs, and Art Deco-inspired metallic light fixtures.

Rooms are generously sized and equipped with Purcell Irish cotton linens, large flat-screen TVs, and strategically placed USB ports. Complimentary mini-bars, 24-hour room service, and marble bathrooms stocked with T London products add to the indulgent experience. Large windows provide street views, while suites boast plush living areas. The design was spearheaded by London-based firm March and White, creators of the Café Royal in Piccadilly and the Arts Club in Mayfair.

The Devonshire Club emphasizes arts and culture, offering innovative tours, programs, and packages. Guests can enjoy a cultural weekend package, guided walking tours, and seasonal events like the Winter City Cinema series. The on-site restaurant, Number Five, celebrates British cuisine under the guidance of Executive Chef Adam Gray. The New York-inspired weekend brunch is a crowd favorite, featuring American classics, free-flowing beverages, and a decadent ice cream sundae.

In line with modern expectations, the Club has invested in fitness and wellness facilities, collaborating with Truth Gym to provide tailored fitness plans. With over 30 years of industry experience, Truth Gym helps clients achieve their fitness and weight loss goals. Overall, the Devonshire Club has become a popular addition to the City’s social scene, bustling with lively conversations and laughter every day.

The Devonshire Club’s commitment to arts and culture doesn’t end with its tours and events. It also regularly partners with local cultural institutions and artists to host exhibitions, workshops, and performances. This dedication to fostering a vibrant creative atmosphere has established the Club as an influential cultural hub in London’s financial district.

For those seeking a more laid-back experience, the Club offers several lounges and bars, including the elegant Champagne bar and the cozy Library bar. These spaces provide the perfect setting for casual meetings, relaxation, or intimate conversations, all while enjoying an extensive selection of drinks and light bites.

In addition to its exceptional amenities, the Devonshire Club takes pride in delivering outstanding service. The attentive and professional staff ensure that every guest’s needs are met promptly, whether it’s arranging transportation, suggesting local attractions, or catering to special dietary requirements.

The Club’s central location in the heart of London also makes it an excellent base for exploring the city. Major landmarks, such as St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge, and the Tower of London, are within easy reach, as well as the trendy neighborhoods of Shoreditch and Hoxton. The nearby Liverpool Street station offers convenient transport links to other parts of London and beyond, making the Devonshire Club a prime choice for both short and extended stays.

The Devonshire Club’s unique blend of luxury, culture, and vibrant social life sets it apart from other establishments in the city. As a members’ club and boutique hotel, it caters to a diverse clientele and offers a refreshing alternative to the ever-growing leisure scene in London. With its innovative programming, exquisite dining experiences, and top-notch facilities, the Devonshire Club continues to thrive as a dynamic destination for business, leisure, and cultural pursuits.
